The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is proud to announce its Official Charities for 2005!

Seeing Is Believing
This is Standard Chartered's global community initiative aimed at making a lasting difference to the problem of blindness.

Working with Sight Savers International and Vision 2020: The Right to Sight (the international body for the elimination of avoidable blindness), “Seeing is Believing” aims to give sight back to 1,000,000 people and help prevent blindness.

Today, there are 37 million people in the world who are blind and the vast majority live in the developing world. The real tragedy is that a staggering 75% of this blindness is avoidable or can be cured. A small amount (US$30) can restore sight and make a big difference. In fact, restoration of sight is one of the most cost-effective intervention in health care and has an immediate impact on the life of the individual, their family and the community.

The Business Times Budding Artistes Fund
Initiated by The Arts House, The Business Times Budding Artists Fund aims to enable children and young adults between the ages of eight to 16 years distanced by socio-economic circumstances to pursue their aspirations to develop artistic talents in music, dance, theatre, visual arts and theatre production.

The Fund originated from a strong conviction that no child with strong interest and artistic potential should be deprived of the opportunity to develop his or her talents because he or she is economically disadvantaged.

The fund provide opportunities for established artists/professionals to impart skills and experience to the younger generation of talents, and create awareness of the importance supporting our talented children and youth in the artistic arena to build Singapore’s next phase of development.

Running for a worthy cause? Register with us!
This year, the event organizers are looking to track and record groups (Charities, Volunteer Welfare Organisations, Non-Profit Organisations) that are running for a charity or leveraging off the event to raise funds for worthy causes. All such groups are required to register with the event organizers. (Fund raising activities by these groups are subject to approval from the event organizers)
