Rules & Regulations

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is organized in accordance with the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) and Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) Rules & Regulations and sanctioned by Singapore Amateur Athletic Association (SAAA). |

Completion of this entry form evidences the Participants' agreement to abide by the relevant rules & regulations of the IAAF, SCSM and SAAA. Such rules apply at the material time and to all and any ruling of the Organizers i.e. the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and the SAAA. |

Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organizers to ensure the participants' safety, participants run at their own risk and the Organizers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising. |
| • |
Any disputes arising from the participation in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2005 shall be referred to Arbitration to be conducted in Singapore under the law of the Singapore Arbitration Court. |
| • |
The form on the reverse of your BIB number must be filled in. |
| • |
Road closure will be lifted after six hours. Participants will then continue on the footpath at their own risk. |
| • |
In accordance with IAAF Rules, a runner must retire from the race immediately if required to do so by any member of the official medical staff. |
| • |
No pets or any form of wheel-run objects of transport e.g. in-line skates, prams, push cars, shoes with built-in or attached rollers is allowed other than for the 10km Wheelies race. |
| • |
Once the registration form has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for those participants who eventually do not take part for whatever reason. |
| • |
There will be no fee refund if the Event is cancelled for whatever reason. |
| • |
The Organizers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this Event for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising. |
| • |
The Organizers reserve the right to limit and refuse entries. |
| • |
The Organizers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete entry details. |

Race category and race entry is not transferable. |
| • |
Participants must be 18 years and above on race day to participate in the Marathon. |
| • |
Participants must be 17 years and above on race day to participate in the Half Marathon. |
| • |
Male Veteran: A male Participant becomes a veteran on his 40th birthday. |
| • |
Female Veteran: A female Participant becomes a veteran on her 35th birthday. |
| • |
Singaporean means Singapore citizen only. |
| • |
A Participant can elect to receive an award in another category to which he/she is entitled that offers a higher prize-money. The Participant is allowed only ONE prize-money award. Notwithstanding the Participant's election, his/her finishing position in each of the relevant categories does not change. |

There are two race categories: Individual and Team. For the Individual category, there are five races: Marathon (42.195km), Half Marathon (21.1km), 10km, 10km Wheelies and the Kids Dash. For the Team category, each Team member runs 10km. The 3 Team categories are as follows: |

Team Men (first 4 men finishers to score, but a team can register a maximum of 6 men) |

Team Women (first 4 women finishers to score, but a team can register a maximum of 6 women) |

Team Mixed (first 4 finishers, including at least one of the opposite sex in order to score. But a team can register a maximum of 6 participants with at least 1 member from the opposite sex) |

Scoring System: The Team with the lowest aggregate NET time of the first 4 finishers will be declared the winner. |

Participants for the Team categories are eligible for the 10km individual prizes. |

Standard Chartered Distance Challenges |

For the Corporate Challenge, participants must come from the same company. The company with the longest combined distance completed by its staff wins. |

The Corporate Challenge is only open to companies registered under the Company Act and Business Act. |
| - |
Standard Chartered Bank employees are not eligible for the Corporate Challenge Prizes. |
| - |
The Non-profit Organization Challenge is open to all Non-profit Organizations, Clubs, Societies, Ministries and Statutory Boards as well as foreign Embassies, High Commissions, and Consulates. |

Participants of the Non-profit Organization Challenge must come from the same Non-profit Organization, Club, Society, Ministry, Statutory Board, foreign Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate. |
| - |
The Non-profit Organization, Club, Society, Ministry, Statutory Board, Embassy, High Commission or Consulate with the longest combined distance completed by its staff and members wins. |
| - |
The School Distance Challenge is open to any educational institute. |
| - |
Participants of the School Distance Challenge must come from the same educational institute. |
| - |
The educational institute with the longest combined distance completed by its staff and students wins. |
| - |
Teams are entitled to win prizes only within their chosen Team category. |
| - |
The CEO Challenge is open to all CEOs of companies and/or equivalent ie Presidents, Chairmen, Managing Directors. Entry will be subjected to Organizers' confirmation of details. |
| - |
All CEOs will participate in the 10km race. |
| - |
The finisher CEO who completes the race in the fastest time wins an individual prize. |

Kids Dash: Open to children below 13 years. |
| • |
All Participants should pick up their Race Entry Packs that include the BIB Number, ChampionChip*, Event T-Shirt, Event-Handbook and other novelties at the Marathon Expo on 1, 2 and 3 December 2005. |

As the ChampionChip is a loan item, all Participants are responsible to return their chip to the Organizers immediately after the race. A S$50.00 (Singapore Dollars Fifty only) penalty applies for the loss of the abovementioned chip. |
| • |
All Participants who successfully complete their race in their elected category will be awarded a Finisher's Medal and Certificate. |
