An initiative of Standard Chartered Bank, the Run for a Cause programme aims to raise funds for the beneficiaries of the three adopted charities supported by Community Chest, the Official Charity Partner of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009.
Community Chest, in partnership with individuals, businesses and organisations, has raised funds to meet the needs of the less fortunate since 1983. The less fortunate that Community Chest helps span the entire community across all ages and ethnicities. They include children with special needs, people with disabilities, families in distress and the destitute elderly. Your generous donation to Community Chest has helped them overcome their challenges and improve their lives.
To maximise the impact of your donation, Community Chest ensures that fund-raising costs are kept to a minimum. As these costs are covered mainly by Tote Board and Singapore Pools (Private) Limited, every dollar raised by Community Chest will be made available to social service programmes under its care.
The charities which the event is supporting this year are:
- Bukit Ho Swee Family Service Centre
- a community-based focal point of family resources that promotes and strengthens the well-being of families in distress.
- Lions Befrienders
- reaches out to lonely senior citizens with limited or no family support, to help dignifying and enhance the quality of their golden years.
- Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School
- is a place where children with autism and multiple disabilities are respected and provided with specialised curriculum and services to develop their full potential.
You can make a difference in the lives of our beneficiaries by either signing up as a RFAC participant or by pledging a donation. In appreciation of your commitment and efforts, the top 500 RFAC participants who raised more than $300 will receive a waiver of their registration fees and a limited edition RFAC T-shirt.
