 2008 | - 50,000 participants, of which 2,700 runners are from overseas from over 60 countries
- 3,800 volunteers supported the massive undertaking of Singapore’s premier running event
- Community Chest was the Official Charity of the Singapore Marathon. The 2008 event raised $300,000 through pledge cards and for the first time, online pledging through the Community Chest website.
- Attracted more than 160,000 supporters at the Padang and on-route to cheer the runners and be part of the action.
- A total prize purse of approximately S$270,000 for all race categories, a 30% increase overall as compared to 2007.
- New sponsorship agreement which includes the Standard Chartered Bank’s title sponsorship of the Kids Dash. A Kids Dash athletic workshop was also conducted for the first time.
- Earlier start time for the Wheelchair Race to provide the participants with a cooler experience, improve performance and to ensure safety and the well-being of participants.
- Reigning world champion Luke Kibet featured in the line-up of elite athletes and went on to set a new course record of 2:13:01 hours.

 2007 | - Attracted 40,000 participants, of which 2,500 were international runners
- The Autism Association (Singapore) was the Official Charity of the Singapore Marathon, and $250,000 was raised
- An estimated 100,000 supporters attended the race
- The organizers implemented an earlier start time of 5.30am for the Full Marathon, instead of 6.00am in previous years, to help runners cope better with the heat and humidity.
- The distance between water points along the route was reduced from 2km to 1.5km. Minor route changes were necessary due to the greater Marina area developments, to further enhance the runners’ safety and overall experience.
- Second time competitor, Kenya’s Elijah Mbogo won the Men’s Marathon setting a new course record of 2:14:22. Alem Ashebier, also of Ethiopia, won the Women’s Marathon in a record 2:37:08.
- Daniel Ling won with the fastest time of 2:46:29 in the Singapore Men’s category while Vivian Tang defended her title with a time of 3:01:15.

 2006 | - Attracted 31,000 participants, of which 1800 were international runners
- The Breast Cancer Foundation was the Official Charity of the Singapore Marathon, and $170,000 was raised
- An estimated 90,000 Runspirators attended the race
- Kenya’s Amos Tirop Matui won the Men’s Marathon setting a new course record of 2:14:59. Salina Kosgei, also of Kenya, won the Women’s Marathon in a record 2:31:53
- Elangovan s/o Ganesan made it a hat-trick of titles in the Singapore Men’s category (2:50:58) while local favourite Vivien Tang won the Singapore Women’s title (3:02:16)

 2005 | - Attracted 21,000 participants, of which 1,300 were international participants and 200 were elite athletes (An increase of 13% from 2004)
- Seeing is Believing and the BT Budding Artistes Fund were the Official Charities of the Singapore Marathon
- New categories like the CEO Challenge and the Standard Chartered Distance Challenge for Non-Profit organisations saw Embassies and High Commissions take up the challenge and compete for a cause in the Singapore Marathon

 2004 | - Attracted 15,000 participants, of which 1,150 were international participants and 200 were elite athletes (An increase of 36% from 2003)
- SCSM adopted the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped & Sight Savers International - Uganda as the Official Charities
- Marathon Expo was expanded into a Sports and Fitness Expo providing health and exercise tips for all
- Introduction of new categories to encourage wider participation from Singaporeans – South-East CDC Kids Dash, Standard Chartered Corporate Distance Challenge, the School Distance Challenge and the Wheelchair category

 2003 | - Attracted 10,000 participants, of which 843 were international participants and 63 were elite athletes (An increase of 78% from 2002)
- Action for AIDS were adopted as the Official Charity of the SCSM 2003
- Run With Me clinics were introduced to instil confidence and motivate new runners
- Introduction of Runspiration to encourage supporters and motivate runners along the route
- First-ever Marathon Expo and Carnival on the Padang was held to foster the carnival-like atmosphere for participants and supporters
- Team Category was introduced

 2002 | - Attracted 6,300 participants, of which 473 were international participants and 60 were elite athletes
- 750 volunteers were involved as support staff for the marathon
- Running Clinics were introduced
- Pasta Party got the runners together for a carbo-loading session the day before the big race
- Romania’s Constantina Dita broke the 16-year-old marathon (Women) record with a timing of 2:36:06
