Singapore is geographically located one degree north of the Equator and thus, it has no true distinct seasons. Its climate is characterized by uniform temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall. The temperature ranges from 23°C to 34°C. Relative humidity averages around 70%, hitting 90% in the early mornings, and dropping to 60% in the afternoon. Singapore experiences two monsoon seasons a year, the first being the Northeast Monsoon from December to March and the second one being the Southeast Monsoon from June to September. Periods in between the monsoon seasons are generally the driest. |
 Clothing |
Due to its proximity to the equator, light summer clothing made from natural fabrics like cotton is suitable for outdoor activities. Most restaurants and nightspots are not particular when it comes to dress code, thus polo shirts, t-shirts, jeans, bermudas, skirts and blouses are acceptable at most places. However, some up-market establishments may require formal wear and thus erring on the side of caution by calling up to enquire would be advisable. |

The currency unit is the Singapore dollar, or S$. Coins are in denomination of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and 1 dollar, while dollars are in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 and $10,000. Exchange rate is US$1= S$1.48, or €1=S$2.03. |

Singapore is a multi-religious country due to its diverse ethnic mix of people originating from various countries. Most of the key religious denominations are represented in Singapore and the government promotes religious tolerance. Mosques, temples and churches can be found within a radius of 5km within the race site. |
 Road Rules |
In Singapore, drive on the left-hand side of the road, meaning the driver sits on the right side of the car and the overtaking lane is the right most lane. The speed limit is 50 km/h on roads and 70-80 km/h on expressways. Do not drink and drive, the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) limit is 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. Seat belts and child seats are mandatory and headlights must be turned on between 7 pm and 7 am. |
